University of Surrey Clinical Research Course

Each May, the Academy, under the leadership of Professor David Hutchinson, organises a 3-day course for students at the University of Surrey, in conjunction with the School of Biomedical and Life Sciences. The course is attended by final year BSc as well as MSc and PhD students. The course consists of two-days of presentations on clinical research and good clinical practice followed, on the third day, by a multichoice examination to test knowledge. Successful participants are awarded a certificate in basic clinical research competence.

The aim of the free course is to assist students who may wish to pursue a career in clinical research. Training with certification is an excellent CV item and shows prospective employers that the candidate has some basic clinical research knowledge.

The next course will be held on 16-18 May 2007. Programme

The third day of the course involves a presentation on opportunities for new graduates in the pharmaceutical and related industries. This will be given by Bob Gammon of Bob Gammon Associates. For information about his organisation visit www.bobgammon.com.

University of Surrey  students may register for the course by contacting the course co-ordinator, Dr Julie Howarth in the School of Biomedical and Life Sciences j.howarth@surrey.ac.uk.

Due to the high demand for places - more than 60 participate every year - we are unable to accept applications from other students. However a number of places on our Cert CRGCP Part 1 course may be available to students each year. Although no course fee is charged, the hotel day delegate rate will be payable. Interested?
